CHARACTER BLUEPRINT PHASES INCLUDE:

Phase 1: Illustrator Character Casting

You will have the opportunity to have a private session with one of Square Tree’s professional illustrators. They have a unique gift of helping you get your character from your mind onto the paper so you don’t have to worry about details getting lost in translation

Phase 2: Character Refinement

One you get your initial character onto the paper, you will continue to work with your illustrator to build out the look and feel, and style and color for your character and you will completely own the rights to the visuals of your character.

Phase 3: Children's Book Dummy Mock-Up Guidebook

You will be given a handbook to help you create your own Children's Book Dummy Mock-Up Guidebook. This guidebook allows you to physically create your children’s book so you can actually see it come to life, one step at a time.

What if I can’t draw or illustrate my book?

We know this is a massive roadblock for many authors writing a children’s book. Your professional illustrator that will walk you through the process, offer insight into what it looks like, and provide an opportunity to partner with them if you don’t want to do it yourself. This is an exclusive opportunity to have your main character drawn by a professional illustrator.

What if I’ve never written a book before? Can I start with a children’s book?

Absolutely.

You don’t have to be a published author to write a children’s book! Every aspiring writer needs to start somewhere, and this workshop is a great place to build the confidence to develop a character that will stand the test of time, whether you stick to the children’s genre or branch out into other genres later.

There are cheaper illustrators overseas, why not just use them?

We believe in building a relationship with your illustrator one-on-one, so that you can cast your vision for your character. With most hiring companies or overseas illustrators, you can’t speak to them personally which is like playing a massive game of “telephone” with a third party intermediary in the mix. You combine that with a huge time difference and good luck really getting the character you’ve been dreaming about to come to life.
